The Black List
Sean Gallagher, Dan Stalter, & Yasir Ansari shot and produced
this short documentary for a production class at SUNY Oneonta in
the fall of 2007. Pressed for time to complete an end of the semester
deadline, the movie was never finished to the filmmakers liking.
Even so, it received a lot of attention across campus and sparked
the interest of many students who had never before heard of this
controversial event that took place in Oneonta just 15 years ago.
With a renewed ambition to tell the full story in greatest detail,
the filmmakers - now graduated - are expanding upon their original
work. They will be teaming up with Dr. Kathleen O'Mara, chair of the
Africana & Latino Studies department, who is doing a historical
record on the event. Some interviews will be re-shot, many new ones
will be taken, and the result will be a feature film telling a
detailed account of what happened to this small college town in 1992,
and how it became the longest continually litigated civil rights case
this country has ever seen.
